The Units listed below are 'In Draft'. 'In Draft' Units will not be changed significantly before they become definitive. Users can, therefore, use the guidance in 'In Draft' Units for sensitivity tests or to plan future work with confidence. 'In Draft' guidance units are denoted by the suffix D.

The Appraisal Summary Table, previously Unit 2.7.2, is now a spreadsheet associated with TAG Unit 3.2D.

January 2010

The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) and the Department for Transport (DfT) developed a methodology to better capture the economic benefits generated by new housing developments, for inclusion in the New Approach to Appraisal (NATA).

TAG Unit 3.16, which is expected to remain in 'In Draft' status for the foreseeable future, provides this methodology. It outlines the analyses required to reflect the impacts of new housing in the appraisal of transport schemes, and the circumstances where those analyses are likely to be appropriate.
