04-04-08 VOSA and DSA at the Commercial Vehicle Show
The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) will be exhibiting on Stand 7 - 060 in Hall 7 at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show on 15 -17 April 2008.
The two Government Agencies will be providing a platform to give practical advice to their customers and promote awareness of various road safety issues.
VOSA will be providing education and advice on key road safety initiatives including EC Drivers’ Hours Rules, side swiping, mirror fitting, low emissions testing or the headlamp test. Agency experts will also be demonstrating the use of approved digital tachographs.
DSA will continue their campaign to raise awareness to the new Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification, which comes into effect from 10 September 2008 for bus and coach drivers and a year later for lorry drivers. This means that all new drivers will be required to take an enhanced theory and practical test, and existing drivers will need to undertake periodic training in order to gain their Driver CPC, if they wish to continue to drive professionally.
The aims of Driver CPC are to improve road safety, recognise and accredit the skills of professional drivers and to raise the status of driving as a profession.
The Agencies will also be supporting these key road safety initiatives by supplying various publications. These include the multilingual DVD and Guide to Drivers’ Hours Rules, The Guide to Periodic Training for Driver CPC and Fresnel lenses that help reduce the occurrence of side-swiping accidents.
DSA and VOSA look forward to meeting visitors of the three-day show on stand 7 - 060 in Hall 7.
