20-01-05 Launch of new online PSV Operator Self-Service

20 January 2005

NEWS RELEASE

LAUNCH OF NEW ONLINE PSV OPERATOR SELF -SERVICE.

Stephen Tetlow, Chief Executive of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency is officially launching VOSA’s new On-Line transactional service for PSV licence holders, PSV Operator Self-Service on Thursday 20 January 2005 at the Department for Transport in London.

Commenting on the launch Stephen Tetlow said, “The PSV launch of our successful operator self service scheme is a key part in modernising relationships with our customers and an important step in providing a service which is as easy and efficient for operators to use as possible.”

This new on-line Government service enables public service vehicle operators to keep their vehicle records up to date by allowing them to add and remove vehicles from their Operator's licence record at any time of the day or night without the need to complete an application form and without any intervention by VOSA staff. Operators can also register to join self-service on-line; check their own licence and bus registration details held on VOSA’s operator licence computer system; transfer vehicles between licences they hold in different areas; track the progress of licence applications and set up access for other members of their staff, allowing greater access to records and transactions for larger companies. Simon Archer from Arriva considers the on-line facility to be a significant step forward, “I eagerly anticipate the next stage whereby I will be able to submit the actual registration document itself electronically.”

Later this year operators will also be able to pay licence invoices and continue licences on-line. The launch gives VOSA a chance to demonstrate the system to PSV operators and gives them the opportunity to look at some other services available for PSV operators on the VOSA web site, plus an opportunity to discuss the new service with VOSA staff.
