16-08-05 Fees Set for Digital Tachograph Cards

Following on from the announcement that the UK will be supporting the introduction of digital tachographs from August 2005, the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has announced that it will be issuing cards, incrementally from June 2005, starting with workshop and control cards. This is to insure that Vehicle Units can be installed and calibrated and the enforcement infrastructure put in place prior to the issue if driver and company cards.

Further information will be published shortly giving details of the availability of application packs for driver and company cards.

Regulations setting out the fees for issuing digital tachographs will be laid before parliament on 11th May 2005.

The DVLA will begin issuing the cards from the beginning of June.

The fees were decided on following consultation with transport operators and the industry.
