09-11-05 New Bus Registration search facility launched

VOSA has launched a new, online search facility on www.vosa.gov.uk, as part of improvements to its online services, providing a whole new range of data about bus service applications and registrations.

The new Bus Registration Search system allows visitors to find basic details of all registered bus services by using searches including operator name, licence number, and start and finish points.

This new service adds to the facility to search for applications received to run, vary and cancel bus services which has been provided on VOSA's web site for some 12 months.

“We created this new facility to meet customer demand resulting from the earlier search routines. There are already over 2,300 searches made of the present data each month and we anticipate more interest in this new service.

“We expect the facility will be of interest to members of the bus industry, local transport authorities and Passenger Transport Executives, plus those who follow the activities within the industry,” said Bill Buckley, VOSA’s National Licensing Director.

To use the new Bus Registration Search, click ‘Online Services’ on the home page of www.vosa.gov.uk, then ‘Bus Registration Search’. Three search areas are available.

You can search for new/variation/cancellation applications which have been accepted/registered up to today’s date. (This does not mean the effective date of the service.)

You can also search registrations listed in ‘Notices & Proceedings’ by either the operator/ trading name, or by a person’s name.

And the third search is for all registrations held by Traffic Commissioners. You can search on any one, or a combination of:

• licence number

• registration number

• operator name

• trading name

• Traffic Area

• service number

• start point

• finish point

The searches have information on all registered services and from 2002 for applications to add, vary or cancel services.
