General Description
The role of the Technical Support Engineer is to support the VCA’s continual improvement requirements by supporting new and existing operational global offices with technical advice and interpretations, assisting with the global accreditation strategy for new territories, and implementing a global approach to type approval. The TSG is an expanding department and the successful candidate will need to be flexible and willing to contribute to the expanding role of the department.
Main duties:
- Handle technical questions originating from a variety of sources according to priority guidelines prevailing at the time. Where possible respond appropriately to questions in a timely manner, otherwise seek consensus and respond to question when possible.
- Where necessary and appropriate ensure interpretations are developed as a consequence of questions and responses given and that they are included in VISTA.
- Assist operational branches in the development and introduction of test reports / certificates for new and existing subjects.
- Develop and deliver technical training to internal and external candidates.
- Assist in gaining and maintaining accreditation for other 3rd country territories (Taiwan / India / China / Russia, etc.).
- Assist in ensuring continued ISO17025 compliance for VCA offices
- Conduct quality audits of VCA operational offices and external Technical Services.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement practices effective throughout VCA global operations
- Develop TSG processes.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualification in an engineering discipline to HND/degree level
- Good working knowledge of automotive type approval
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and contribute to the development of the section
- Willingness to train in related subjects
- Well-developed customer care skills.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database use.
- Willingness to travel in UK/Overseas
- Full UK car driving licence
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of training preparation and delivery
- Experience of working with or in the motor industry
