Background:
VCA is a specialist technical Agency within the Department for Transport with a particular emphasis on automotive and related technologies. It is the UK EC/ECE Type Approval Authority and Technical Service for automotive approvals, an accredited management systems certification body, and the Enforcement Authority for various related non-automotive Directives. VCA operates globally in a largely competitive environment and has overseas offices in USA, Japan, China, Korea, India, Malaysia, Italy and Australia.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of VCA’s central finance function and will report directly to the Finance Director. This is a senior post within the Agency.
Responsibilities include:
• Preparing VCA Annual Report and Accounts.
• Preparing consolidation packs for DfT.
• Preparing six and nine month accounts.
• Developing and maintaining financial procedures and applying accounting policies.
• Deputising for the Finance Director on financial matters.
• Management and development of VCA’s Central Accounts Branch (1 HEO, 2 EO’s and admin support)
Essential criteria:
• CCAB/CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant.
• Two to three years post qualification experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to meet demanding deadlines.
• Evidence of analytical skills.
• Leadership skills.
• Customer focus.
Desirable criteria:
• Experience of Financial Systems (currently VCA use SUN Account).
• Proven ICT skills.
• Flexible and adaptable approach.
• Current and full driving licence.
