TransXChange
Within the UK, Transmodel has provided the foundations for developing TransXChange (TXC) - an XML schema for the exchange of bus route and schedule information. A new release of the schema, following a thorough review of early-user experiences, was developed and tested during 2004 and was released as v2.0 in 2005. The current version is now v2.1.
Work inside VOSA, the agency responsible for the registration of bus services, is expected to allow the electronic registration of bus service details using TXC to begin during 2007. This is expected to have a major impact on the flow, timeliness, consistency and accuracy of information that passes into the various Public Transport Information systems, such as those used by the regional traveline partners on which the Transport Direct Portal service also depends.
