Electronic Bus Service Registration
The modernisation of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) created the opportunity to consider how Bus Service Registration could be enhanced to make Registration data useful in travel information services. An electronic registration process has been developed based on TransXChange.
Launched on January 31st 2008 by the Secretary of State Electronic Bus Service Registration (EBSR) enables bus operators to submit bus service registration applications to VOSA online, rather than via the current paper-based approach. Everything that would normally be in the paper-based registration will be contained in the TransXChange (TXC) XML file.
The process will allow faster processing of registrations by VOSA, will place the responsibility for accurate information with the operators who create the registration data and will reduce significantly the need for re-keying data into information systems, thereby removing a source of inaccuracy, costs and time delays and improve systems such as traveline and Transport Direct.
