TEMPRO
Welcome to the TEMPRO website
This website provides the National Trip End Model (NTEM) forecasts and the TEMPRO software. These are used for transport planning purposes. The forecasts include population, employment, households by car ownership, trip ends and simple traffic growth factors based on data from the National Transport Model (NTM). The data and software are available for free, for anyone to use.
Users of NTEM data and TEMPRO software are strongly advised to register. The NTEM datasets are updated periodically with updates to data sources, whilst the software is updated from time to time. Registration allows us to inform users when the planning data or software is updated. To register, please select the 'Downloads' option from the menu at the left of the screen. The Registration form can be found at the top of this page.
For more information as to how TEMPRO software and NTEM datasets can be used, you may wish to refer to the guidance in WebTAG Unit 3.15.2: Use of TEMPRO data.
Forecasts such as NTEM datasets are always subject to uncertainty. For guidance on how to manage uncertainty in transport forecasts, please seeWebTAG Unit 3.15.5: Uncertainty in Forecasting.
If you would like more information or have a query please try using our "FAQs" page in the first instance. If these do not answer your query, or you have any comments on TEMPRO software or NTEM datasets please select the 'Contact' option from the menu or alternatively email tempro@dft.gsi.gov.uk.
The current definitive version of the dataset is NTEM 6.2, which should be used in conjunction with the current version of the software, TEMPRO 6.2. The previous version of the dataset, NTEM 5.4 is still available to check work carried out since 2008. Registered users will be informed when updates are available. To register for updates, please go to the Downloads page. For further details of the functionality and system requirements of TEMPRO, please select the 'Introduction' option from the menu.
Earlier versions of the NTEM dataset and TEMPRO software are available on request in order to verify work that was done before NTEM 5.4 was released in 2008. However, these are no longer fully supported by the Department. Please email tempro@dft.gsi.gov.uk if you require earlier versions.
