DisAbility network group
The DfT disAbility network is an independent group set up and run by disabled staff, although we are grateful for the support and encouragement given to us by the Equality and Diversity Unit.
The network aims to enable disabled staff, their line managers and those with an interest in disability issues to make contact with each other and to promote higher standards of good practice in the Department on issues relating to diversity and equality of opportunity. The network provides a forum for staff to put their views on disability and diversity issues to senior management. We aim to hold meetings three to four times per year to discuss matters of interest such as building accessibility, the staff appraisal system and information technology etc.
We are linked to the Civil Service Disability Network (CSDN), which is made-up of leaders from the various departmental /agency disability networks from around the country and we usually send a representative and contribute to these meetings.
