Information about this website

This current www.dft.gov.uk departmental website was launched on 10 June 2011.

The website was redeveloped to address user feedback and stakeholder research, reduce costs and to move to an open source CMS solution (WordPress) in a more flexible hosting environment. We want to ensure that people can find the information they are looking for quickly and easily; and that publications, reports and policy documents can be browsed and searched more easily without having to know the subject area in detail or know what part of the Department or Agency is responsible. We also need to direct people to the correct source for more detailed information, such as Directgov and BusinessLink.

Throughout the next year common areas of content across the Department and its Agencies will be brought into the DfT website. Consultations, publications, press releases, news items and FOI responses for the central Department and its Agencies will be available via the DfT corporate website at www.dft.gov.uk. Colocating common content provides a holistic overview of all activities carried out by the DfT family and offers an improved user experience for visitors to the website. Each Agency will also retain its own area of specific content within the DfT corporate website.
The first Agency to move its content to the DfT was the Driving Standards Agency in June 2011.

If you have any comments about the redevelopment of the website, please email the Web Team at webmasterdft@dft.gsi.gov.uk

Published date

Every document on this site has a ‘published’ date. This term refers to the date when an item is published on the website and may not necessarily reflect the date when the document is published for circulation. This is especially the case for reports which are published for circulation before being published on the website. The date the report was published for circulation can often be found within the body of the report.
