Project: UTMC Strategies to Minimise Vehicle Emissions

Reference: UTMC03

Last update: 09/09/2003 11:43:13

The main objective of this research is to develop a model to estimate aggregate vehicle emissions in terms of given traffic characterisitics and to use the model to develop traffic control strategiesto minimise vehicle emissions at the link and network level. In addition, we also aim to consider suitable strategies, within UTMC systems, which achieve minimisation of emissions.

This project is a key part of developing the strategies for Urban Traffic Management and Control, as part of the UTMC programme. It will build on experience of the Leicester (instrumented city) work, and UG96 and UG93. European projects ELGAR (at Bristol) and EFFECT (in Kent, Maidstone) may also be relevant.
