Project: TRAMAQ - Emission Measurements

Reference: UG216

Last update: 29/08/2007 11:40:00

Objectives

The main objectives of this project are to measure emissions from heavy goods vehicles and other large engined vehicles (eg buses). The outputs will include a model of emissions from goods vehicles and buses over a range of traffic management cycles.

Description

The project is part of the TRAMAQ program of research. The objectives of the research are to carry out emission measurements on a range of heavy vehicles including buses under conditions that reflect various types of traffic management schemes. The data collected will be processed in order for it to be used to form or supplement an emissions model database. The suitability of the model in assisting local authorities to predict heavy vehicle emissions will be assessed and subject to these findings the model is expected to be available in a format suitable for local authorities to predict the effect of road schemes on emissions.

Summary of results

  1. The emission measurements over the traffic management drive cycles have been completed. The results are now being analysed and the HGV emission model is being completed.
