This project will review all literature on flexible demand modelling techniques, as well as develop a software package suitable for use in congested networks. A significant proportion of this project will be to test a robust software package, with suitable documentation, to produce assignments using elasticity-based methods.
Transport models are becoming more complex because of the need to reflect the congestion on the road networks and the reaction of drivers who may re-time their trips to avoid congestion. Long-term studies have identified issues around the elasticities of traffic assignments and the methods to adjust traffic matrices.
