Project: Comparison of safety requirements in QUADS and CARS

Reference: S0801/V6

Last update: 19/12/2008 11:53:13

The objective of this project is to provide advice on a further course of action regarding the safety standards for "car-like" trikes/quads, with a view to presentation of the information at European and Global standard-setting meetings.

The project tasks are:
a) Desk-top examination of the ease with which "car-like" quads/trikes could meet safety standards for small cars.

b) Initial risk assessment of do nothing scenario, broken down by Directive.

c) Consideration of the need for and, if deemed beneficial, development of an alternative definition of "car-like" quads/trikes.

d) Development of possible compromise requirements where the car requirements would prove extremely difficult to meet but the safety risk is high.
