Waves 2 to 4 have the follwing objectives. To provide;
- findings that can underpin consultations on DfT's transport strategy
- an effetive meansof consulting memebers of the public on specific transport related issues and proposals over a period of time
- quick feedback from members of the public on issues, allowing us to identify emerging problems, difficulties and concerns.
- a research resource that can quickly provide a feel for public attitudes to specific issues such as specific modes and / or specific policies.

Description

DfT has set out an agenda for engaging with stakeholders between now and 2009. This agenda highlights the importance of "listening to the people" in recognition of the fact that the real purpose of the transport system is to meet the needs of the end users.
As part of this agenda DfT want to set up a citizens's panel that can provide a cost effective means of consulting members of the public on transport related issues and proposals over period of time.
Outcomes will be reports, presentations and regular insight into public perceptions.
