Objectives

Formal evaluation (of both process and impact) of a range of staffing options case studies, with transferable evidence on good practice in implementing staffing options initiatives.
. Establishment of suitable criteria to enable the public transport sector to formally evaluate their staffing options initiatives.

Description

Generally, the project is part of a rolling programme of initiatives to tackle crime and the fear of crime on public transport. Specifically, it represents the third and final stage of research with passengers and staff on different (cross modal) staffing options for improving personal security over the whole journey. The project will be of direct interest to transport operators and planners, TfL, other Government Departments notably the Home Office and DCLG. The project reference numbers for the first two stages of the research were: stage 1 - UG540, stage 2 - R139.
