Reference: R192

Last update: 15/02/2007 16:19:11

This project will support the Department for Transport's aim of 'transport that works for everyone'. In particular it will work to deliver sub-objective 1.4 'to promote mobility and reduce exclusion by improving accessibility and personal mobility options'.

The project will support this aim and objective by providing ad-hoc scientific and technical support on aspects of the work programme.

The tasks are broad ranging and potentially involve a diverse range of topics and levels of knowledge and facilities. It is likely that the specific work items will be required at short notice.
Experience to date indicates that the DfT will require support on the basic issues such as reviewing documents through to state-of-the-art research and development facilities. An indicative list of likely topics includes:-

* Analysis/advise on regulatory measures and proposals
* Peer review of research and technical papers
* Provide scientific/technical support for/at meetings
* Regulatory impact assessments
* Testing & evaluation
* Feasibility studies
* Literature reviews and collation of existing data
* Analysis of existing datasets
* Surveys
* Drafting guidance
