Objectives

This project will support the Department for Transport's aim of 'transport that works for everyone'. In particular it will work to deliver sub-objective 1.4 'to promote mobility and reduce exclusion by improving accessibility and personal mobility options'.

The project will support this aim and objective by providing direct feedback on the effectiveness of accessibility regulations and highlight the need for enforcement, or changes to regulations or standards, in the context of the Government's Better Regulation Strategy.

This project will deliver a detailed technical report.

Description

This project will evaluate the accessibility of different types of transport vehicles, specifically, trains, trams, buses, coaches, taxis and private hire vehicles.

The research will provide direct feedback on the effect of accessibility regulations and highlight the need for enforcement, or changes to regulations.
