Project: English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA)

Reference: R151

Last update: 28/07/2009 16:31:17

The aim of the project is to provide longitudinal quanitative evidence to feed into the Department's work on ageing, particularly the implications of demographic change on the development of future transport policy.

This supports DfT strategy and PSA targets across the board and will feed into other analytical work, such as the further development of the NTM.

ELSA is an existing study that is funded by a consortium of government departments, to which DfT is the latest addition. The study will provide robust numerical data on how peoples' travel needs change as they get older, and how transport relates to other aspects of their lives such as health, empoyment and income.
