Objectives

The main objective is to collect the data on dimensions, weight and characteristics of people in their wheelchairs in order to assess the changes that are taking palace in wheelchair design.

It will also seek to extend the scope of data by gathering information on child wheelchair users and the capability of wheelchairs in relation to ramp gradients to access vehicles and floor slopes inside vehicles during travel.

Description

To ensure accessibility for people with disability to buildings and transport, policy makers, architects and designers of transport systems need to take account of the dimensions and weight of occupied wheelchairs.
