Reference: H133B

Last update: 03/02/2005 15:18:28

Objectives

The objective of this research is to gain results that will lead to improved transport modelling advice and to more realistic estimation of the relationship betweeen journey time variability and traffic volumes.

Description

This project intends to deliver Motorway Variability Data for use in the JTV framework study and for updating parameters in the INCident Appraisal program (INCA) comprising of the following;
1. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) data;
2. Motorway Incident Detection & Advisory Signing (MIDAS) count data;
3. Motorway Traffic Viewer (MTV) plots & MIDAS speed data;
4. Other count data;
5. Incident data;
6. Weather data;
7. Event data;
8. Roadworks data;
9. Carriageway configuration data.
The project will also include a series of working paper reports setting out, summarising and justifying, the following:
10. Relationships between vehicle kilometres and incident numbers;
11. Methods of representing a number of typical incidents;
12. Updated parameters for use in INCA;
