Objectives

The specific objectives for this project are as follow:

To identify and quantify the role of community transport in terms of geographic distribution, investment, number of schemes, numbers of people involved in providing (volunteer and paid) and using the service and trip purpose.
To identify and quantify the range of transport solutions that community transport offers to reduce social exclusion.
To evaluate the success of community transport in meeting existing transport needs.
To identify the barriers that exist for the community transport sector and make recommendations as to how these barriers might be overcome.
To identify and evaluate the quantity of funding and range of sources that funding that the community sector receives.
To assess its role in reducing social exclusion in improving access to education, employment, healthcare, leisure and food.

Description

To reduce the links between transport and social exclusion by understanding better the full extent of community transport by auditing its distribution and evaluating its contribution to reducing social exclusion.
