Objectives

The aim of this project is to identify on the following:

 To identify, comprehensively review and critically compare current UK and international approaches to, and methodologies used in, measures of community severance and other wider community impacts resulting from all relevant modes of transport schemes.
 To review and appraise the existing evidence generated by these approaches and methodologies
 To identify the range of mitigation measures used to reduce severance effects and summarise the existing evidence on effectiveness of these measures.
 To identify knowledge gaps in UK practice and potentially transferable lessons relating to measures of severance and its mitigation.

Description

The requirement is for research to review and appraise approaches and methodologies in the assessment of community severance and its mitigation, to summarise the evidence from these approaches and methodologies, and to consider the feasibility and value of extending and enhancing measures of severance and mitigation.
