Last update: 03/02/2005 15:50:19

Objectives

The objective of this research is to gain results that will lead to improved transport modelling advice and to more realistic estimation of the relationship between journey time variability and traffic volumes.

Description

The collection of incident data and other Motorway Variability Data programme (INCA). This study will take recent data (see project H133) to revalidate the INCA programme.

This contract specified the flow data collection and this will comprise of the following.

1. Roadwork
2. Event & inventory data collection and analysis of incident data based on budgetary estimates, which provided by Arups.

Summary of results

  1. The data feeds into parallel research work being carried out by TRL analysing these data. Some problems were identified by TRL however the data collected provided a sufficiently robust basis for the further research work.
