The objective of this project is to review the Secure Stations Scheme and specifically:

1. Consider the feasibility and desirability of revising and recasting the Scheme
2. Consult with stakeholders including ATOC, BTP, DLTR, Home Office, PTEs, SRA, train companies and users as to their requirements.
3. Propose two different models with a) minor and b) major changes


This project includes: evaluation of the whole and individual elements of the scheme; quantitative assessment of crime and nuisance offences at stations before and after accreditation; establishment of best practice in security at stations; understanding of requirements of different stakeholders; promotion of security for the travelling public.

Summary of results

  1. The general approach of the scheme was endorsed and a range of reccommendations around leadership of the scheme and introducing a new category to include smaller, rural and unstaffed stationswere offered.
