Objectives

The aim of this project is to provide engineering assessment and costing information on the current level of accessibility of light and heritage railway vehicles against the Rail Vehicles Accessibility Regulations (RVAR).

Description

This project will increase understanding of the nature of existing rolling stock by covering light rail, metro systems and heritage railways. It extends the scope of UG331B which was largely limited to heavy rail.

Summary of results

  1. A database was created recording light and heritage railway vehicles against level of compliance with the Railway Vehicles Accessibilty Regulations (RVAR).

Departmental Assessment Status: Project completed prior to the implementation of the Departmental publications scheme.
