Project: Fuel Saving Tips Guide

Reference: RHMF 001

Last update: 20/10/2003 11:50:53

Objectives

The Fuel Saving Tips guide is aimed at small operators and owner drivers. It:

Incorporates key extracts from the Fuel Management Guide, but in a format targeted at the small operator.

Emphasises case study results, with specific examples of organisations using the fuel efficiency methods described.

Uses "Checklists" to encourage drivers/operators to monitor their progress.

The advice and information is presented in a much simpler way using less complex, less technical English

The lack of uptake of the Fuel Management Guide in its initial format would be a serious shortcoming of the TEBPp, and every effort should be made to present the information contained within it to as wide an audience as possible.

Ensuring that the information contained within the Fuel Management Guide is accessible to all members of the road haulage community also reflects the Department's commitment to diversity.

Description

This project is a follow up to the production of the Fuel Management Guide, funded by the Transport Energy Best Practice programme (TEBPp). The production of a revised edition of this Guide has been suggested by the trade associations of the road transport and logistics industries, to ensure wider readership.
