Project: Assessment of the Pullout Resistance of Soil Nails

Reference: CSU 28/4/64

Last update: 08/01/2010 14:35:40

Objectives

To develop a procedure for measuring the pullout resistance of drilled and grouted soil nails on site, and
To establish a geotechnical model for the bond mechanism developed between a nail and surrounding soil, and thereby to develop a method for calculating the ultimate pullout resistance of soil nails.

Description

To establish a method for determining the pullout resistance of soil nails. A methodology for undertaking pullout tests and interpreting the results will be developed and will be published in a report. The report will contain additional information and advice on site investigation practice and the measurement in situ of pore water pressure.
