Description

This project is a specific proposal aimed at improving and enhancing the utilisation of the vehicle accident database that is operated and maintained by VI. It will be correlated to STATS19 data, be user-friendly and better meet the needs of existing and potential customers.

This improved vehicle accident database will enable better use of accident data by the Department to support post year 2000 casualty reduction targets and in-use road safety targets.

Summary of results

  1. The project survey found that all customers who took part agreed that the database is potentially extremely useful although it requires a major improvement exercise, including a complete re-organisation of the database, if it is to serve its purpose proficiently.

The full results and recommendations are detailed in the project report.
