Objectives

The objectives of this contract are to support the general development of ISA nationally and internationally by:

* providing expert technical advice to those proposing to conduct trials or implement ISA;
* monitoring the effectiveness of the various trials;
* participating in discussions/meetings/seminars on ISA; and
* reviewing technical working papers/proposals on ISA.

Description

Certain local authorities are expressing interest in Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) and either wish to carry out trials or to implement the technology in certain circumstances.

This project will run in parallel to another project (S181A/VD) continuing the development of an ISA system. It will allow researchers working for DTLR to provide technical advice to local authorities regarding the implementation of ISA and to monitor the effectiveness of the various trials.

The information from these trials will provide essential information which will help guide the main project, and future policy.
