How the ROS works:

Under the RTFO, fuel suppliers will need to make data returns to the RFA on a monthly basis.  This data will contain fuel volumes and carbon and sustainability reports.  To facilitate this, the RFA has an IT system called ROS (RFA Operating System).

ROS is a secure database and reporting system.  When registered on the scheme, each transport fuel supplier who is obligated or has joined the scheme for other reasons, will be issued with a login and password.  This will permit them to access the system and upload their fuel volume data and complete C&S reports.

The system will also allow the RFA to award certificates to suppliers of biofuel.  Once awarded, account holders will be able to trade certificates.

The end of month and end of year reconciliation periods are facilitated by ROS.  The system will be administered by a dedicated team at our offices in Hastings.

Fuel suppliers that wish to register on the RFA Operating system and apply for an account will be able to do so from April 1 2008.
