DfT’s advice on making  special event traffic regulation orders under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 was withdrawn on 07 February 2011.

It remains for local traffic authorities to decide what procedure is appropriate in particular circumstances. We encourage them to set local procedures and charges in a reasonable way that reflects the diverse nature of proposed events.
