HGV deliveries in residential areas are often constrained during night-time and/or weekend periods. However, this increases traffic and carbon emissions at peak hours.
The Quiet Deliveries Demonstration Scheme (QDDS) scheme has investigated the types of constraint, the requirements for seeking a relaxation of delivery hours and the potential benefits of introducing quiet out-of-hours deliveries that do not create a disturbance to local residents.
