Summary

In the Autumn Statement today, the Government announced its support for 20 local major transport schemes across the country covering public transport, roads, mixed packages and major maintenance schemes. The 20 schemes were part of the ‘Development Pool’ of 45 projects seeking funding from the Department for Transport – a competitive process to drive up value for money and drive down costs. The Department has been able to approve the transport business cases for 20 of the schemes at this time. Decisions on the remaining 25 Development Pool schemes will be made by the end of 2011.
