About the business plan
This plan sets out the Department’s vision for a transport system that is an engine for economic growth but one that is also greener and safer and improves quality of life in our communities. It details the Department’s core priorities with key actions, including start and end dates and milestones, in these priority areas. It provides details of the Department’s financial situation and commitment to transparency, setting out an information strategy and detailing specific indicators that the Department will publish and regularly update.

Business plan transparency consultation
The Department ran a consultation on the transparency section of the business plan from November 2010 to January 2011. The responses to the consultation were taken into account in the process to refresh the business plan for publication in May 2011. We are grateful to the respondees who provided comments to us on the plan.
