NaPTAN Update Error Report Email

When NaPTAN data for a local authority area is submitted Thales validate it and send an email, describing any issues, to interested parties.

On 20th June 2011 the email's Subject line was enhanced to state whether there are any errors and/or pending stops or stopareas.

The email body includes a summary of the data submission; plus details of any errors, pending stops or stopareas, a PDF validation report (if there are any errors), pending stop/stoparea lists (if there are any pending) & links to further information; as shown in this example:

Thales NaPTAN Validation Report Guide

There is a guide to explain error messages and advise on corrective action.  This guide is available on the JourneyWeb web site and is also be linked from the Validation Report so that you can click on an error message and be taken directly to an explanation of the error message.

For example you would click on the 'SMS001- should be numeric' link in the example above to to see the text in the example below, provided you have a connection to the internet.  The Guide will be updated periodically, so using the web version is preferable.

The guide also contains general information on errors and on pending stops/stopareas.

If you don't have a connection to the internet then you can use the newly-added reference numbers, e.g. "VAL001" to look up messages in a local copy of the Thales NaPTAN Validation Report Guide.
