Prescott - public inquiry into Paddington rail crash
Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, has this morning said there will be a Public Inquiry into the train crash near Paddington Station.
Mr Prescott said:
" I have just visited the scene of this terrible and tragic accident. My thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed and injured - I extend my heartfelt condolences to all concerned.
" I also want to express my deepest appreciation for the way the emergency services acted so promptly - the police, the ambulance services and the hospitals. Indeed, all those who have played, and are playing, such a major role. And a special word for the local community that also stepped in.
" There is an investigation under way by the police and the Health & Safety Executive and there will be a Public Inquiry. We will get to the bottom of everything that happened in this tragedy."
