Survey of privately owned vans - results of survey, October 2002 - September 2003 - Over the last decade the van population has increased by around a fifth and van traffic has grown by a third, compared with increases of around 15% in car traffic and 20% in heavy goods vehicle traffic. There is a need therefore to obtain information on vans to complement information available on cars and heavy goods vehicles to provide a complete picture, particularly in relation to road freight activity.
