Maritime Statistics Advisory Group (MSAG)
The Maritime Statistics Advisory Group is chaired by the Department for Transport and includes members from Government, the maritime industry and the academic and consuiltancy sector with experience of using and providing data for official maritime statistics, and with practical experience of the sector itself.
Its terms of reference are:
- to discuss and advise the Department on the possible data sources and methods which could be used to fill information gaps identified through the National Statistics Quality Review of Maritime Statistics, taking accouint of the value added as well as the costs for data suppliers and the Department, and commercial confidentiality considerations.
- to provide a focal point for the reporting of progress in response to the recommendations of the Quality Review generally.
- to provide an informal sounding board for the Department's plans for developing Maritime Statistics.
The founder members (based on membership of Project Board of the 2007 Maritime Statistics National Quality Review) are shown below. Others are invited to participate according to the topics under discussion.
