The National Business Awards have been set up to celebrate the best in British business. Finalist companies this year represented £336 billion turnover and £32 billion profits providing employment for 1.8 million people in the UK. Major sponsors include, Orange, 3i, Axa, HSE and Investors in People. Guests of honour at the award ceremony were HRH The Countess of Wessex and Skills Minister, Phil Hope, who talked about Gordon Brown calling the Awards the "Business Oscars".

The Department's success for THINK! covered our work on the teenage road safety campaign where we achieved a world first in shooting a TV commercial through a video phone camera. We were marked excellent in all criteria which looked at the use of insight, innovation, both creatively and in use of media channels to reach our target audience, and effectiveness where our tracking research showed we had a major impact upon teenagers. We were also commended for an excellent presentation to the judging panel.
