Bicycle Helmet Guidelines for Schools. The guidelines aim to inform teachers on the benefits of bicycle helmets as part of any school policy of cycling to and from school. The document provides information that will allow teachers to fully understand the benefit of helmets and how they are effective in reducing head injury. |

Playing it safe. The project aims, in partnership with social housing tenants, to explore methods of improving the road safety of children on housing estates whilst recognising the fact that children do access the road for play activities. The project also aims to inform decision makers in local authority planning departments and housing development professionals of the importance of child road safety and the reality of child play on social housing schemes. |

European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) |
3 activities in annual work programme: Best in Europe RS Conf; European Transport Safety Lecture; and Visions, Strategies and Targets newsletter. The European Transport Safety Lecture will be held on 22 January 2003 and aims to bring together key individuals who, in view of their role and responsibilities, will make a major contribution to shaping future levels of transport safety. The theme for the lecture is: Ageing Europe: the challenges and opportunities for transport safety. The Visions, Strategies and Targets Newsletter has 2,000 copies. It aims to provide information for professionals and policymakers throughout Europe on key developments in targeted road safety programmes in other countries and developments at EU level. Risk Assessment workshop for RSOs. The project will develop and conduct four practical Risk Assessment Workshops for Road Safety Officers, tailored to their specific needs.
