Effectiveness of electronic stability control in Great Britain (638 kb)

A study of UK national injury accident data conducted by Loughborough University's Vehicle Safety Research Centre (VSRC) to ascertain whether electronic stability control (ESC) equipped cars are involved in less crashes than those without ESC. Results show that cars equipped with ESC are 25% less likely to be involved in a fatal accident. ESC was particularly effective in adverse road condition, i.e. wet/snowy, and in accidents involving loss of control situations.
