Parking on Pavements Awareness Campaign - Derby City Council
In a number of pavement parking hot-spots in Derby including Mansfield Road and Broadway, Derby City Council (DCC) place Parking on Pavements leaflets on vehicles parked on the pavement. Included within these leaflets is a clear message as to the negative effects of pavement parking, along with an indication of the penalties that pavement parkers could incur. Since 2002, over 300 Parking on Pavements leaflets have been placed on vehicles in these roads, and the effect on pavement parking has been very positive as DCC Parking Development Engineer Steve Alcock explains:
"By placing these leaflets directly onto vehicles parked on the pavement, we target only those people who are responsible for pavement parking, and this has proved to be extremely effective. There has been substantially less pavement parking in Mansfield Road and Broadway since the introduction of our Parking on Pavements leaflets"
