Getting Parking Right Awareness Campaign - Derby City Council
Timed to coincide with Derby City Council (DCC) taking over the enforcement of parking regulations in July 2006, DCC launched the Getting Parking Right campaign designed to improve parking standards across the city. Included within the Getting Parking Right literature is specific reference to the principle that "pavements are for people" whilst the guidance also highlights the fact that waiting restrictions apply to the pavement as well as the highway.
Steve Alcock, Parking Development Engineer at DCC clearly believes that the Getting Parking Right campaign is having a positive impact on parking management in the city:
"In Derby we have taken proactive steps to improve parking for everyone, and we believe that our Getting Parking Right campaign has made a real difference, including reducing the problems caused by pavement parking"
