Street Works Register
It is a requirement of the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 that undertakers notify highway authorities of works in the highway. The highway authorities are responsible for registering and co-ordinating these works.
The Highway Authorities and Utilities Committee (HAUC) together with the Department of Environment Transport and the Regions (DETR), have put together a simple internet based electronic data interchange (EDI) standard for the transfer of notifications.
The EDI solution is documented in Appendix E of the revised version of to the 'Code of Practice for the Co-ordination of Street Works and Works for Road Purposes and Related Matters'.
