Some local authorities now include information on their web sites on works carried out in their areas. The site www.direct.gov.uk/Dl1/Directories/LocalCouncils/fs/en can link you to individual local authorities' web sites.

www.roadsni.gov.uk/index.asp - information on street works and road works in Northern Ireland.

www.lga.gov.uk - web site for the Local Government Association, which represents local authorities in England and Wales.

www.njug.org.uk - web site for the National Joint Utilities Group, which represents the interests of the main utilities in street works and other relevant matters.

www.thensg.org.uk - web site for the National Street Gazetteer.

www.raucs.co.uk - Roads and Authorities & Utilities Committee (Scotland) - This site has been created with the purpose of helping various bodies and organisations co-ordinate and communicate activities involving disruption to the road network around Scotland.

www.hse.gov.uk - The Health and Safety Executive are responsible for the regulation of almost all the risks to health and safety arising from work activity in Britain.

www.hmso.gov.uk - The HMSO website allows you to access statutory instruments and other various pieces of legislation.

www.dti.gov.uk - The Department for Trade and Industry, amongst other things, licences companies, which can give them a statutory right work to carry out street works.
