Dear stakeholder

The Government has today published:

  • a summary of responses to last year's consultation on the proposed detail of the RTFO's carbon and sustainability reporting requirements;
  • its final recommendations to the Renewable Fuels Agency (RFA) on this matter.

Both documents are available via the DfT's website at:

Summary of responses to the consultation:

Government recommendation to the RFA:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/environment/rtfo/govrecrfa.pdf

A copy of Jim Fitzpatrick's Written Ministerial Statement will shortly be available at:
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmhansrd.htm

Final decisions on the detail of the reporting requirements are a matter for the RFA, which is expected to issue its own guidance very shortly via its website at http://www.dft.gov.uk/rfa.  Transport fuel suppliers will be required to follow the RFA's guidance in submitting their carbon and sustainability reports in order to receive any renewable transport fuel certificates.

Now that the Renewable Fuels Agency is up and running, you will increasingly start to receive emails both from the DfT (generally on biofuel policy matters) and from the RFA (generally on RTFO operational matters).  If you wish to unsubscribe from either category of email, please let us know.

Best wishes,

Rupert Furness
RTFO Programme Director
