Women's Transport Network
Aim
- To promote transport systems and pedestrian environments that are safe and accessible for all and to encourage women to enter and progress in the transport industry.
Objectives
- To secure wider understanding of women's specific transport needs and requirements.
- To accommodate these needs in the design and provision of transport and pedestrian environments.
- To encourage women to enter and succeed in the transport industry.
- To encourage women to contribute to transport planning and development at all levels.
- To provide a central reference point of publications and experience.
Membership
- Open to all women and men in the transport industry who share the aims and work towards the objectives.
Programme
- Contribute to policy development through participation in seminars and journals.
- Publicise and underline the business case for safe and accessible transport.
- Liaise with professional and trade associations, other women's groups and international contacts.
- Target education and training through schools, educational establishment and professional institutions.
- Encourage and assist women to be better represented at conferences, with honorary positions and on public appointments.
